Matthew James Finnesy

Matthew James Finnesy, 90, passed away December 20, 2020, at Sheridan County Long Term Care in Hoxie, Kansas.

He was born to Joe and Fern Finnesy on September 24, 1930. He grew up in Natoma, Kansas and graduated from Natoma High School in 1948. He then settled in Selden, Kansas. Matthew was married to Aldea Fay Finnesy. He was a tool pusher for Murfin Drilling Company and a farmer.

Matthew was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden and the Knights of Columbus. He was a resident of SCHC and really enjoyed the activities. Matthew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Matthew was preceded in death by his wife, Aldea Fay Finnesy; daughter, Virginia Smith; parents, Joe and Fern Finnesy and brother, Dennis. He is survived by his children: Marjorie Byrd, Dan Finnesy and wife Cindy, Colleen Barry, Mike Finnesy and wife Suzie, John Finnesy and wife Susan and Steve Finnesy; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann and husband Ed and Wanda Meyer, and brother, Joe Finnesy.

Matt will be forever missed and loved.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Selden Cemetery, Selden, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am Monday before the graveside at Pauls Funeral Home, Selden.
