⚽ Tiger women fall at home to Bronchos

HAYS, Kan. - The FHSU women's soccer team fell to Central Oklahoma on Friday (Oct. 1) by a score of 2-1. Two first half goals, including one with just over a minute remaining to break a 1-1 tie, pushed the Bronchos to victory. UCO improved to 6-2-1 (2-0 MIAA) and the Tigers are now 3-3-3 (0-2 MIAA).

The Bronchos got on the board first with a goal in the 11th minute off of a strike from Monika McGee. The Tigers answered immediately when Jordan Thompson netted her third goal of the season in the 12th minute. At the end of the first half, the Bronchos Emily Tincher sent a corner kick in the direction of Taryn Kedzior who headed the ball towards the goal. The initial shot was saved by Deonna Wellbrock, but Kedzior was able to put it back with her right foot in the 44th minute. The Bronchos took the 2-1 lead into the locker room and held it through the end of the match.

The Tigers took nine shots compared to 14 by the Bronchos. Wellbrock had seven saves on the day increasing her total to 43 so far this season.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 3) when they host the Jets from Newman University with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
