HAYS – The Hays Larks ran their winning streak to seven games and picked up the series win over the Collegiate Roughriders with a 10-0 win Saturday night at Larks Park.
The Larks (22-4-1, 15-4 RMBL) scored four in the first and four in the seventh for the run rule win.
Dylan LaRue drove in the first run of the game on a groundout. Wilbert Espinal followed with an RBI double then scored on Kaleb Duncan’s triple who later scored on a wild pitch.
Brady Kreutzer entered as a courtesy runner in the third and stole second and third before scoring on an Espinal groundout which pushed the lead to 5-0.
Duncan scored on Paul Smith’s grounder to center in the sixth to give the Larks a 6-0 lead. They ended the night early with four in the seventh. LaRue drove in the first run with a single to left. Kreutzer scored on a Duncan groundout then Thomas Lyssy hit a two-run homer to end the game.
Taber Stokes, Dylan LaRue and Kaleb Duncan all had two hits. LaRue, Wilbert Espinal, Duncan, and Thomas Lyssy all drove in two runs.
Nick Gray (5-0) allowed one hit with seven strikeouts and one walk over five scoreless innings and picked up the win. Julio Ramos closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief with seven strikeouts and no walks. The two combined to strikeout 12 and walk only one.
