It was the first significant spring rainfall in Hays in many weeks.
Overnight Friday, the city received 0.89 inches of rain according to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.
Still, Hays remains well behind total moisture amounts compared to its 154-year cumulative average.
Normally by the end of June, Hays will have received 3.46 inches of rain. As of Saturday, June 17, Hays has had 1.83 inches of rain.
The average annual moisture accumulation by the end of the month is 11.27 inches. Hays has had 8.04 inches of moisture so far this year, nearly three inches below normal.
