BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - The Fort Hays State women's golf team opened the 2022 season with a 13th-place finish at the Central Region Fall Preview this week (Sept. 6-7). The 16-team, 86-player event was held at Adams Pointe Golf Club, a par-72, 5,910-yard layout.
The Tigers climbed one spot from round one to round two after improving their team score by nine shots. FHSU turned in a team score of 326 on Tuesday and 317 on Wednesday, finishing at 67-over 643.
Morgan Brasser led the team after finishing in a tie for 29th at 10-over for the week. The two-time All-MIAA selection opened her fall season with an 8-over 80 in the opening round before turning things around with a 2-over 74 over the final 18 holes. Freshman Aliyah North recorded identical rounds of 8-over 80 in her collegiate debut, finishing in a tie for 51st at 16-over. North was the only Tiger without a single hole worse than bogey on the week.
Shauna Lee placed 67th at 20-over after rounds of 83 and 81, while freshman Hannah Nimmo was close behind in a tie for 68th in her first action as a Tiger after back-to-back rounds of 83 (+22). Kerrigan Rudolph tied for 75th at 26-over (88-82), while Lexie Ridder competed as an individual and finished 80th with rounds of 86 and 87 (+29).
Henderson State won the team competition with a cumulative score of 3-under 573, while Nebraska-Kearney's Faviola Gonzalez and Arkansas-Monticello's Chiara Sturaro tied for first in the individual race at 3-under 141.
The Tigers will turn around and compete again in just five days (Sept. 12-13) when they travel to Thornton, Colo. for The Swan Invitational.
