KHP investigating fatal I-70 crash

RUSSELL COUNTY —The Kansas Highway Patrol on Saturday released new details on a fatal two vehicle crash that occurred just before 11a.m. Thursday in Russell County.

The KHP reported a 2023 Hyundai Sonata driven by Zane Daniel Foster, 33, Topeka was westbound on Interstate 70 approximately three miles west of the Kansas 232 Wilson exit.  A 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Richard J. Rockwell, 72, Warren, Ohio, was stopped along the shoulder and entered the highway in front of the Hyundai.

Rockwell was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Pohlman Funeral Home.  Foster, 2 adults and a one-year-old in the car were properly restrained and not injured.  Rockwell was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

RUSSELL COUNTY—The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two vehicle crash that occurred just before 11a.m. Thursday in Russell County.

The Patrol reported a vehicle was westbound on Interstate 70 approximately three miles west of the Kansas 232 Wilson exit. Another vehicle stopped along the shoulder entered the highway in front of the westbound vehicle.
