Reid Hale Rogers, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Colby, KS surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 23, 1948, to Ranard and Margaret (Hale) Rogers in Norton, KS. Reid was raised in Selden, KS and attended school there until his senior year when he attended and graduated from Decatur County High School in Oberlin. Reid obtained his associate’s degree from Colby Community College and also attended Fort Hays State University.

Reid was united in marriage to Jo Ann (Jody) Hedge on July 26, 1969, in Hoxie, KS and they lived the majority of their married life in Rexford, KS where they raised their two daughters, Penny and Amber.

Reid joined his dad working at Rogers’ Repair Shop and they farmed in the Selden area for many years. Later, he went to work for the Thomas County Sheriff’s Department as a Detention Deputy.

Reid was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed both hunting and fishing, including annual elk hunting trips to Wyoming and fishing in Canada with family and friends. He taught his grandsons how to hunt and fish and was very proud that they shared his love for these hobbies.

Reid’s greatest love was his family. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He and his wife, Jody, spent countless hours traveling to sporting events, and various other activities in which the kids participated. In recent years he enjoyed spending time with his six great grandchildren, three of whom were named after him.

Reid was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rick, and several in-laws. He is survived by his wife, Jody, of 55 years; two daughters, Penny (Matthew) Vogler of Colby, KS, and Amber (David) McCauley of Great Bend, KS; grandchildren, Cole (Danielle) Christensen, Taylor (Tyson) Espinosa, Jordan (Kyle) Zachgo, Kirstyn (Justin) Pacheco, Halle Latham, Landen Vogler, and Alyssa McCauley; great grandchildren, Miles and Cooper Espinosa, Briar and Haynes Zachgo, James Christensen, and Carter Pacheco.; sister, Diana Fowler and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Rexford Community Church, Rexford, KS. Lunch to follow.
