👟 HHS boys win McCook Invitational, girls second

McCOOK, Neb. – The Hays High boys track and field team won eight events and finished in first place at the McCook Invitational track and field meet Thursday. The Indian girls’ won five events and finished second in the first meet for both teams this spring.

The boys scored 178 points, 27 more than second place McCook. The girls scored 128 points, 29 behind first place McCook.

Keamonie Archie led the boys with three individual titles and was a member of the first place 4x100 meter relay along with Trent Summer, Milik Bah and Chason VanDerWege.

Archie won the 100 (11.16) and 200 meters (22.95) as well as the long jump (23-02.5).

JW Perry won the 300 hurdles (44.25) and finished second in the 110 hurdles.

Bryce Salmans won the shot put (47-01.5). Grayson Walburn won the discus (152-02.0) and placed second in the shot put.

The Indians other individual champ was Kyreese Groen who won the triple jump (43.11).

Kamryn McCall and Lilian McGrath both had two first place finishes to lead the girls. McCall won the 100 meters (13.18) and McGrath the long jump (15-03.75). Both were members of the winning 4x100 relay team along with Morgan Gerdes and Amelia Jaeger.

McGrath placed second in the 200 and was on the second place 4x400 relay team along with Brenlynn Albers, Emily Hernandez and Amelia Jaeger.

Katie Linenberger won the high jump (5-04)

The 4x800 relay team of Avery Winter, Aralen Maupin, Julia Zadina and Brenlynn Albers also finished first.

Maggi Lindenmeyer placed second in the shot put (36-05). Caira Augustine was second in the triple jump (32-05.25). Halle Lohmeyer tied for secodn in the discus.
