Mary L. Paul, age 81, of Hays, Kansas died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born January 12, 1940, at Agra, Kansas to Ole William and Myrtle Hazel (Perkins) Bennett. She married William D. Paul on October 6, 1963, in Weskan, Kansas.
She worked at the Hays Public Library in the Children’s Department and Storytime for over 25 years. She grew up on a farm at Agra, Kansas and was a graduate of Agra High School. Mary attended Kansas Wesleyan College and Fort Hays State College earning a Bachelor’s Degree. Mary moved to Hays in 1973 until moving to Salina in 2010, and the last three years she lived at Via Christi Village in Hays. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Mary enjoyed baking, sewing, and flower gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Paul D.V.M., Urbana, IL; her son, Mike Paul and wife, Melinda, Salina, KS; her sister, Shirley Hoch, Logan, Ks; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Paul, Dodge City, KS; Kalene Gormley and husband, Steven, Hays, KS; Kendale Paul, Salina, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dale Bennett; sister Connie Hoch; brothers-in-law, Wesley Hoch and Ernie Hoch; and two great grandchildren.
Services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 31, 2021, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Rev. Troy Miller officiating.
Burial will be at Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
Visitation is from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
The family suggests memorials to Hays Public Library-Children’s Department or Stephen Ministry in care of the mortuary.
