Patricia Lucille (Kurtz) Peck

Patricia Lucille (Kurtz) Peck, 90, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Patricia was born January 18, 1931, in Burlington, Colorado.  She was one of four children born to Frank and Alma (Kerr) Kurtz.  She grew up and attended schools in Alton, Kansas until her senior year of high school when her family moved to Salina and she graduated from Salina High School.  She then attended Kansas Wesleyan College and graduated with a Teaching Degree.  Later she attended Fort Hays State University and earned a degree in Education.

Patricia was united in marriage to Wayne Peck on May 18, 1952, in Salina, Kansas.  This union was bless with three children; Teri, Gordon and Jay.  They made their home in Bunker Hill.  Wayne preceded her in death in 1999.

Patricia was an Elementary Teacher.  She taught at Bunker Hill, Dorrance and Russell.  She also worked at KOOD – Bunker Hill.  She was a member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church and UMW.  She also served the church as Treasurer for many years.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Bunker Hill and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She enjoyed water and oil painting and playing cards.  Everything for her revolved around all her families activities.

Surviving family include her daughter, Teri Wannamaker (Pete) of Topeka, Kansas; sons, Gordon Peck (Ellen) of McPherson, Kansas and Jay Peck of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Joan Dunning of Middletown, New York; five grandchildren, J.J. Wannamaker (Lindsey), Jarod Wannamaker (Rachel), Anna Peck, Isaac Peck and Laura Peck.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Richard Kurtz and sister Barbara Kurtz.

Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 

Memorials have been established with the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church or Hays Hospice.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
