Hays High posted the most wins in a single season in program history by winning 10 games in 2022. The Indians finished the season with a loss in the sub-state championship game. Their 10-2 record saw losses to the 6A champions (Manhattan) and 5A runner-up (Maize).

A senior laden team graduated all eleven defensive starters, six more on the offensive side, and their place kicker who made 47 point after attempts and two field goals.

Head coach Tony Crough will start a young team that is not completely void of experience. Most of the players expected to see time this season played in the second half of most games last year against the varsity of opposing teams while the Indians held a large lead.

Malik Bah returns at running back after rushing for 1633 yards and 22 touchdowns. He hauled in another 10 receptions, 206 yards and 2 scores.

Henry Fizthum, Kaiden Bunger and Will Linenberger all return along the offensive line that helped paved the way for an offense that averaged 37 points per game last season.

Wide receiver Johnny Cano returns for his junior season after a 10 catch, two score season in an offense that was geared for a ground attack.

The Indians have gone 18-5 over the past two seasons.
