
James Robert “Jim” Vance, 70, died on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at his
home in Lane County. He was born on May 28, 1950, at Topeka and on
October 19, 1950, was adopted by Rev Robert B. & Violet M. Vance. He
married Harriet Cartmill on September 28, 1974, at Dighton.
Jim graduated from Russell High School in 1968 and attended Oklahoma
City University for a short time. He moved to Dighton in 1970 and
worked for Larry Neeley for 20 years, ran his custom baling business for
3 years and worked at Lane County Feeders for 9 years. He was a member
of the United Methodist Church in Dighton where he spent time on the
Administration Board and was a long time member of the church choir. He
was a participant in the community melodramas and dinner theaters but
his biggest joy was his grandchildren and being a farmer.
He is survived by his Wife- Harriet Vance, 3 Sons- Mark & Nicolle
Vance of Scott City, Steve Vance of Norton and Bryce & Lisa Vance of
Scott City and 6 Grandchildren- Megan Vance, Cody Vance, Cauy Vance,
Evie Vance, Grady Vance and Maya Vance.
Graveside Service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Dighton Memorial
Cemetery with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Memorials are suggested
to United Methodist Church in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
