Kids splashed and experimented with hands-on lessons at the 2026 World Water Day Fun Fest, learning why every drop matters.

The city of Hays and K-State Big Creek Middle Smoky Hill River Watersheds hosted the event on Thursday at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.

The day featured several water-themed activities for all ages, highlighting the importance of water. Children also met mascots such as WaterSmart Wally, were treated to snacks, had their faces painted and played with a rainbow parachute.
