A Hays man was arraigned on Aug. 4 in Ellis County District Court on charges of alleged aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and interference with a law enforcement officer.
At about 12:26 a.m. on March 1, Hays Police responded to a report of possible aggravated battery in the 500 block of West Seventh Street in the back alley of Chuck's bar, according to Hays Police.
A Hays man was allegedly accosted at gunpoint by two male suspects and taken to an area between houses, where he was physically assaulted and pistol-whipped, according to Hays police.
According to Hays police, the victim was allegedly stripped of his clothing, except for his underwear, and robbed of his wallet and phone.
Isaiah Tai Simpson was arrested and charged with alleged aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and interference with a law enforcement officer.
Simpson's bond was initially set at $350,000.
Simpson's defense attorney, Cheryl Ann Stewart, requested a reduction in bond on Aug. 4, but District Judge Curtis Brown denied the motion.
At the same hearing, Simpson also waived his right to a speedy trial.
Simpson's jury trial has been set for Jan. 20. Pre-trial motions will be at 9 a.m. Dec. 2.
