Hays 55 - TMP 27
TMP grabbed a pair of early two points leads during the first five minutes of the game. Hays High took the lead for good on an 11-0 run that closed out that lasted into the second quarter and resulted in a 15-6 lead.
The Indians never looked back pushing their lead to double digits in the second quarter and eventually a 25-12 lead at half.
Hays erupted for 26 points in the third quarter making five of six three pointers. Molly Martin scored thirteen points in the quarter, her game high total.
The Indians led 51-21 into the fourth quarter starting a continuous fourth quarter clock and game that ended at 55-27.
Martin was the game's only double-digit scorer. Nine players scored for Hays each with at least four points. Brooke Koenigsman scored a team high eight for TMP.
Hays will plays #3-6A Washburn Rural in the championship semifinals. TMP faces Newton.
Boys
Hays 59 - TMP 26
Hays scored the first 11 points of the game and were never threatened beating TMP 59-26. The Indians led 22-2 in the first quarter and 22-4 after the first eight minutes.
Hays never stopped growing the lead as they pushed their advantage to 23 in the second quarter and 40-18 at halftime.
The Indians outscored the Monarchs 15-5 in the third and led 55-23 heading to the fourth quarter. The 32 point lead started a continuous clock fourth quarter. Neither team scored much in the final quarter leaving Hays with a 59-26 victory.
Hays starts 1-0 and will play Life Prep in the semifinals. Edwin Muller hit four three pointers on his way to a career high 16. Dawson Ruder added ten points in the win. Ian Nehls scored seven to lead the Monarchs who will face Newton on Friday.
