Hays Larks
HAYS – Trent Baker drove in four runs and Luuk ter Beek pitched five solid innings and the Hays Larks defeated the Western Nebraska Pioneers 13-1 in a seven-inning, run-rule win Saturday evening at Larks Park.
Baker had two doubles and drove in four in the Larks (30-6) 10-run fifth inning. The Larks (30-6) took advantage of four walks and two errors in the big frame.
Brady Evans solo homer broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the second. Tyler LaRue added a solo homer sixth for the final margin.
Luuk ter Beek (5-0) allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks over five innings. Tyler Schott and Jeff Lodes both pitched one inning of hitless relief. Schott struck out three and Lodes fanned one.

The Larks go for the three-game sweep Sunday night in the series finale at 7:00 p.m. It’s the annual Pack the Pantry game with fans encouraged to bring a canned food item for the Community Assistance Center.
