Police in NW Kan. investigate hit-and-run involving child walking a dog

SHERMAN COUNTY—Law enforcement in northwest Kansas are asking the public for help in obtaining a photo or video of a vehicle from an incident that occurred on May 1, according to Goodland Police.

Just after 4p.m. Friday, the Goodland Police Department was dispatched to the 700 Block of W. 16th Street for a report of a dog that was hit and killed.

Upon arriving on scene, police learned a juvenile was walking their dog on a leash, across the street, when a red pickup struck the dog in the middle of the roadway.

When the reporting party called the incident in, the dog was still alive, but later died.

The vehicle in question never stopped, and continued East on 16th Street. Officers have surveyed the area for security and door cameras, in attempts to located a full description of the vehicle.
