
Marvin L. King, age 87, of Ellis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Ellis. He was born June 19, 1938, to Chris and Anna (Sauer) King on the family farm in rural Ellis County.
Marvin graduated from Ellis High School in 1957. On May 23, 1960, he married Barbara Bittel in Ellis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Marvin had a lengthy career spanning 30 years with Golden Belt COOP of Ellis working as a fuel delivery driver, service station worker and in the hardware store.
Marvin was a US Army veteran, a member of St. Mary’s Church and a 3rd degree Ellis Knights of Columbus member. He was known to be an exceptional woodworker and gardener. Marvin enjoyed many activities such as playing golf, softball, attending and supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. His love of sports led him to coaching little league baseball and rooting for his beloved KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals. He also supported the Ellis Jr Free Fair where he had served on the board.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara of Ellis; sons, Wade King and wife Leitha of Ellis, Wes King and wife Kim of Andale, Kansas; a daughter, Wanda Younger and husband Donnie of Ellis; two sisters, Carol Armbrister and husband Verlin of Ellis and Elaine King of Berthoud, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Sharon King of Hutchinson, Kansas; his grandchildren, Calvin (Dionna) King of Germany, Casey (Deena) King of Sarasota, Florida, Cole (Emily) King of Overland Park, Kansas, Dr. Clay King of Fairway, Kansas, Dr. Chase King of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley (Scott) Briand of Ransom, Kansas, Luke (Sarah) King of Dodge City, Kansas, Kaleb King of Wichita, Kansas, Gage (Alliana) Younger of Hays, Cody (Michaela) King of Longmont, Colorado, Dr. Christian (Kalin) King of Goddard, Kansas; step grandchildren, Brittany Ferguson of Florida and Robbie Cummings of West Virginia; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne King; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Kenneth, Alfred, Larry and Leroy King and a sister, Freda Hendrickson.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be Friday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a combined parish vigil and Ellis 3rd degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:00 PM
