Dorothy M. Polzin

Dorothy M. Polzin, 99, died December 15, 2021, at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington, Kansas.  She was born August 3, 1922, in Redwing, Kansas, the daughter of August L. and Louise (Tinkel) Schremmer.

A lifetime Barton County resident, Dorothy worked for Suburban Laundry retiring in 1985.  She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.  Dorothy loved cooking and gardening, playing bingo and cards. 

On May 12, 1942, she married Joe Polzin in Beaver, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2005.

Survivors include; seven children, Delphine Hickey and husband Bill of Hoisington, Nancy Mater and husband Kenny of Olathe, Tom Polzin of Hoisington, Charlotte Hahn and husband Joe of Hanston, Duane Polzin and wife Patty of Hoisington, Randy Polzin of Hoisington, and Kevin Polzin and wife Tammy of Galatia; daughter-in-law, Barbara Polzin of Hoisington; sisters-in-law, Ann Schremmer of Hoisington, and Kathy Polzin of Wichita; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Melvin Polzin, six brothers, August, William, Walt, Tony, Lawrence, and Edward Schremmer; and three sisters, Mary and Florentine Schremmer and Isabelle Jacobs.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m..  Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, all at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP.  Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
