Fort Hays State University invites alumni, students, families, and community members to make plans for Homecoming this weekend.
All the listed events below are open to the public, and most are free to attend, with the exception of athletic events:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2
Bickle-Schmidt Athletic Complex Ribbon Cutting | South End Zone of Lewis Field, 9 a.m.
Celebrate the generous donors who contributed to FHSU’s new, state-of-the-art athletic complex, then explore the 20,000-square-foot facility to see firsthand how it’s shaping the future of Tiger Athletics. Featuring an expansive athletic training area comparable to those found at Division I universities, the new complex is elevating the student-athlete experience at Fort Hays State. FHSU is grateful to those who stepped up financially to make the dream facility a reality.
Alumni Award Recipients Meet and Greet | Tebo Library, 9:30 – 11 a.m.
Fort Hays State University will honor five outstanding alumni this Homecoming. Stop by Tebo Library to meet these individuals who reflect the heart of FHSU through their commitment to leadership and service. Visit https://fhsualumni.com/about/news to learn more about each award recipient.
Campus Walking Tour | Gather in the Memorial Union Sunset Atrium, 1:30 p.m.
Take a guided tour of the beautiful FHSU campus.
FHSU Volleyball Match | Gross Memorial Coliseum, 6 p.m.
Cheer on the Tigers as they face the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Oktoberfest | Hays Municipal Park, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Celebrate Volga German heritage with traditional food, music, and beverages at the Hays Oktoberfest. Stop by the FHSU Foundation hospitality tent while you’re there to say hello!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3
Campus Buildings Open for Self-Guided Tours | FHSU Campus, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to explore campus, reminisce about your time at FHSU, and discover what’s new.
FHSU Parade | The Bricks in Downtown Hays, 11 a.m.
Bring the family and help fill downtown Hays with Tiger spirit! See the FHSU Alumni Award recipients, Homecoming Court, Tiger athletes, FHSU band, Tiger Debs, FHSU Cheerleaders, and community organizations make their way down Main Street. Wear your black and gold and enjoy a Saturday morning Homecoming tradition!
Oktoberfest | Hays Municipal Park 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
In addition to the traditional food, music, and drink, this day’s events include games and bounce houses for kids. While you’re there, stop by and say hello to the FHSU Foundation and Alumni Office staff at their hospitality tent.
Tebo Library Open House | Tebo Library, 1 – 3 p.m.
Explore the stunning and newly renovated spaces and discover the resources and features designed to support today’s FHSU students and campus community.
FHSU Volleyball Game | Gross Memorial Coliseum, 2 p.m.
Cheer on FHSU as they take on Northeastern State University.
FHSU Football Game | Lewis Field Stadium, 7 p.m. Kickoff
Cap off Homecoming weekend under the lights at Lewis Field Stadium as FHSU takes on Missouri Southern.
