👟 HHS boys and girls finish fourth at WAC meet

LIBERAL – The Hays High boys and girls cross country teams both finished fourth at the Western Athletic Conference meet Thursday in Liberal.

Sophomore Blayden Werth was the Indians highest place finisher, coming in ninth in the boys race with a time of 18:06.24. He was the only HHS runner to finish in the top 20.

Sophomore Alexa Cooley paced the Indians girls with a 10th-place finish after a time of 18:25.40. Fellow sophomore Avrie Branaman finished 17th (19:22.76), senior Aralen Maupin placed 18th (19:23.17 and sophomore Kiana Sun was 20th (19:27.69.

Great Bend won the girls team title with 31 points, 15 seconds less than Dodge City. Great Bend freshman Decora Schroeter won the girls individual title with a time of 16:20.23.
