KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced it will create a Conference Community Culture Task Force and will begin work immediately. The MIAA office is currently accepting self-nominations from student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and faculty members to construct the representatives of the group.
The newly formed task force will be an advisory group to the conference office, focused on the goals in the new MIAA strategic plan, which are noted below. The group will be asked to interact directly with coaches and student-athletes regarding important issues and initiatives within the conference. Any recommendations from the Task Force will need approval by the MIAA Institutional Representatives Council (IRC) and the MIAA CEO Council, as the Association's primary policy groups.
The MIAA’s Strategic Plan states that the Association asserts the value of equitable participation and treatment of men and women in intercollegiate athletics through its structure, programs, legislation, and policies. MIAA members also strive to conduct events within a respectful, welcoming, and family-friendly environment.
OUR MIAA GOALS
Goal 1: The MIAA will explore ways to celebrate its diversity and identify resources for member institutions to enhance diversity and inclusion in intercollegiate athletics.
Goal 2: The MIAA will identify strategies to create first-class, family-friendly events that reflect our values as an Association.
