Alex Francis Riedel Jr., age 87, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. Alex was born June 24, 1934, in Ellis to Alex F. and Anna (Glassman) Riedel.
Alex graduated from Ellis High School and then served in the US Army. He worked for Midwest Energy for over 35 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and refurbishing antique furniture. Alex was also a dedicated blood donor for many years.
He is survived by two brothers, Paul Riedel and wife Mary of Minneapolis, Kansas and Joe Riedel and wife Kathy of Garden Plain, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Alvin, Fr. Richard, Tony, Ted, Alfred, Elmer and Eugene as well as a sister, Mary Ann Blue.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, November 5, 2021, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. The Funeral Mass may be viewed on Facebook Live.
