George Richard Brown, 81, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away at 8:21 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

Richard was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on August 13, 1941, a son of George Brown Jr. and Dora (Schweitzer) Brown.

Richard attended Danby Valley grade school, rural Brownell, Kansas, and graduated from Brownell High School, Brownell, Kansas in 1959.

Through the years Richard worked as a farmer, a foreman and supervisor for San Ore Construction, of McPherson, JH Shears as a superintendent of road construction, Hutchinson, Kansas, Farmland and CHS as a mechanic until he retired.

Richard enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, loved feeding his outdoor critters, and spending time with his friends and family, especially all his grand kids.

Richard Brown was united in marriage to Carol Davis on June 1, 1963, in McCracken, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McCracken. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, Shelley and Gary.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol Brown, of Hesston, Kansas; his children Shelley Drassen and her husband Joe of O'Fallen, Illinois and Gary Brown of McPherson, Kansas; his sister Ann Chandley and her husband John of Hutchinson, Kansas.

He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Megan Richmond and her husband Matt and Allison Drassen and his great-grandchild, Tyson Reeves.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, in McPherson, Kansas.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, Kansas with Pastor Norma McNair officiating.
