DODGE CITY – The Hays High softball team got back in the win column Monday with a 13-0 win over the Dodge City Red Demons in game one of their 3-game Western Athletic Conference series.
The struck early, scoring seven runs in the top of the first. They added four in the third then added two in the fifth in the run-rule win.
Riley Dreher went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Her first inning double gave HHS their first run of the game. D Schmidt had a triple and double. L Zimmerman had two hits, one of the them a double.
Aubree Thomas allowed only one hit in the complete victory with 13 strikeouts and one walk.
Hays will host the remainder of the series with the Red Demons Thursday at the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complext. The doubleheader begins at 4:00 p.m.
