
Byron Kent Miller, 75, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025 after a lengthy battle with numerous health issues. He was born on May 24, 1949, in Great Bend, Kansas. The son of Raymond and Ruth (Karst) Miller.
Byron graduated from Hoisington High School in the Class of ’67 and later received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas in May of 1971. While at Emporia State, Byron served 2 years in the US Air Force Reserves under the Delayed Enlistment Program, being honorably discharged from the Reserves in September of 1971 to become fully inducted into the US Air Force. While in the Air Force, he earned his Master of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Colorado and was later honorably discharged from the Air Force in June of 1977.
Byron was employed as a Math Teacher/Department Chair at Adams County 12 school District in November of 1978 in Thornton, Colorado. He faithfully served many years in that capacity until his retirement in 2016.
Byron is survived by his siblings; Janice McCubbin and husband Lee, Randall Miller and Richard Miller and wife Carla; along with the nephews, Scott McCubbin and Ryan Miller and Niece Rylee Miller as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation was selected by the family. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the graveside services.
