🥎TMP earns sweep of Rooks County

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs got a pair of solid pitching performances, and the defense to back it up, and the bats stepped up as they swept Plainville/Stockton in a doubleheader Tuesday in Hays.

Game 1: TMP 5, Plainville/Stockton 1
In game one TMP senior Kyleigh Allen drove in three runs and allowed just one unearned run in the complete game victory.

Plainville/Stockton got their only run of the game with two outs in the fourth inning. Allen struck out the first two hitters of the inning but the committed a throwing error on a throw to first that allowed a runner to reach. Two batters later the runner came in to score the games first run on a throwing error by catcher Sophia Coulter.

Allen was able to get the final out on a strikeout with Plainville/Stockton leading 1-0.

TMP got the run back in the bottom of the fourth inning on Hannah Garcia sac fly that scored Emilee Augustine. Augustine led off the inning with a double.

With two out in the inning Allen broke the 1-1 tie with an RBI infield single as TMP built a 2-1 lead through four innings.

The Monarchs added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

With two outs in the inning Allen drove in two more runs with a single to center field to TMP up 4-1.

They added a fifth run when Allen scored on an error to make it 5-1.

Allen collected three of TMP’s seven hits and drove in three runs.

She also picked up the win in the circle. She allowed one unearned run on two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.

Game 2: TMP 14, Plainville/Stockton 3
The Monarchs used a pair big innings in game two and sophomore Alexa Ryersee got her first career win.

Plainville/Stockton’s Brylee Horting opened the game with a double off Ryersee and then scored on a sacrifice fly as the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead.

TMP got the run back in the bottom of the first inning when Kyleigh Allen scored on a dropped third strike with the bases loaded.

With the game tied at one the Monarchs broke the game wide out in the bottom of the third inning.

Sophia Coulter got the scoring started in the inning with an RBI single.

Then with one out in the inning TMP drew three straight walks, the last one with the bases loaded as Sophia Allen drove in a run. A Kyleigh Allen RBI groundout made it 4-1 TMP and then two batters later Jaci VonLintel cleared the bases with a three-run double to put TMP up 7-1.

After TMP sent 10 to the plate in the bottom of the third the Monarchs send 12 to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scratched across seven runs to build a 14-2 lead.

In the inning Sophia Allen and Kyleigh Allen each singled in a run. They both came in to score on an error putting TMP up 11-2. VonLintel, Coulter and Hannah Garcia added RBI singles to cap off the seven-run inning as the Monarchs when on to the 14-3 win in five innings.

VonLintel finished 2-for-4 with four RBI’s, Coulter added three RBI’s and Kyleigh and Sophia Allen both drove in a pair of runs.

Alexa Ryersee allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in five innings. Ryersee earned her first career win.

TMP improves to 8-6 with the doubleheader sweep. They are 4-0 in the MCL.

Plainville/Stockon drops to 3-13.
