Summer storm drops nearly 2 inches of rain in Hays Sunday

A quick summer storm Sunday in Hays dropped 1.98 inches of rain in Hays shortly afternoon. 

According to Joe Becker, keeper of official Hays weather statistics at the K-State Agricultural Center, most of rain fell in just 40 minutes with little thunder or lightning.

The Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, measured 1.43 inches of rainfall.

Until this week, Hays had recorded just 0.65 inches of rain in July. 

The monthly total now sits at 2. 63 inches received as of July 18. The average total by the end of July is 3.36 inches.

For the year however, Hays is more than four inches ahead of normal.

To date, Hays has received 19.15 inches of moisture. The 152-average accumulation by the end of July is 14.71 inches.
