HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State football team wrapped up preseason camp with their only scheduled scrimmage Saturday morning at Lewis Field.
“Defensively we kept it pretty simple, pretty basic to see if our guys could get lined up and make the plays they were asked to make,” Brown said. “Offensively I saw some good things, but I think the penalties killed a lot of our drives.”
Captains named
Team captains, which are voted on by the players, were announced after the scrimmage Saturday. Offensive captains include quarterback Caleb Heavner, wide receiver Ryan Allen, tight end Cale Cormaney and offensive lineman Josh Shaw. The defensive captains are linebacker John Johnson, safety Jaxon Kolzow and defensive ends Gaven Haselhorst and Parish Terry.
With the start of classes Monday, the Tigers shift to afternoon practices. They open the season at home on Thursday, August 28th against No. 13 Angelo State.
