The Fort Hays State women's basketball team dropped five spots to No. 15 in this week's WBCA Division II Coaches Poll, released Tuesday. The Tigers are now receiving votes in the D2CSC national media poll. This is the 100th time Fort Hays State has been in the top 25 of a weekly coaches poll release.
It is the first time the Tigers have been ranked 15th in the coaches poll, while Fort Hays State once occupied the 15th spot in the media poll in the final release of the 2020-21 season.
Fort Hays State, now 12-2 overall and 6-2 in conference play, is once again the top-ranked MIAA program in the poll. Central Missouri moved to 17th this week, while Pittsburg State is 20th and Northwest Missouri State is receiving votes.
Pittsburg State is the top MIAA program in the media ranks, sitting 12th, while Northwest Missouri State is 23rd. FHSU and UCM are both receiving votes, with the Tigers sitting just five points outside the top 25.
15th is one of three spots in the top 25 that the Tigers have never occupied when playing a contest. After Thursday, FHSU will have played in each spot in the top 25 at least once except 14th and 20th.The Tigers are 153-40 all-time when ranked in the top 25.Fort Hays State will open a three-game road trip Thursday when the Tigers take on Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. beginning at 5:30 p.m.
