Fort Hays State University Sports Information Director Ryan Prickett received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Photography Portfolio of the Year honor for 2022-23. Only members of College Sports Communicators can submit photos for the potential honor and Prickett's portfolio for 2022-23 was chosen as the best in the nation in the College Division, which includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA (the four levels combined consist of about 1,500 colleges nationwide). This is the first year CSC is recognizing athletic communications professionals for photography work.

This marks Prickett's sixth "Best in the Nation" honor from College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). He already has four "Best in Nation" honors for Fort Hays State media guides of past years in men's basketball (2016-17), women's basketball (2015-16), and volleyball (2011, 2014), and one "Best in Nation" honor for design when he created the 2016 volleyball media guide cover. Prickett now adds CSC's inaugural Photography Portfolio of the Year honor to his collection of national honors and has a total of 17 Citations of Excellence from CSC for his work on publications, design, and photography combined. He is entering his 19th year as Sports Information Director at Fort Hays State in 2023-24.
Only photos from the 2022-23 athletic calendar year were eligible for review. Prickett is limited in the amount of gameday/event photography he does during a year, since his primary responsibilities involve official stats, writing, media relations, and various other operations covering and promoting FHSU's 16 sports. Photo coverage of several FHSU sports events throughout the year often comes from a talented group of assistants, student workers, and volunteers Prickett has assembled, but he enjoys getting behind the camera as well when having the chance to do so.
Prickett joins Nate Edwards of Brigham Young University, the top honoree in the University Division (NCAA Division I schools only), as the inaugural winners of the national award from CSC.
