GREAT BEND – The Hays High boys finished second and the girls third at the Great Bend 5A Regional Track and Field Meet Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
The Indians boys had three individual first place finishes. The girls had two incividuals and a relay place first.
For the boys, Parker McGuire won the discus (154-3), Dalton Meyers the javelin (189-4) and Jaxson Chartier the shot put (53-2.75).
Lyndi Zimmerman won the 100 hurdles (14.91), Rylen Harrington the javelin (132-8) and the 4x100 relay finished first (49.4) to pace the girls.
The Indian boys had nine individuals qualify for the state meet along with a relay. The girls had five individuals and a relay.
Kamryn McCall qualified for two individual events after a second place finish in the 200 (25.73) and third in the 100 (12.45).
Lynsi Kanak placed second in the long jump (17-6).
Caira Augustine also qualified for state with a third place finish in the high jump (5-0).
More could be added to the state qualifying list on Friday. The top three places in each event along with the top four performances in each event from around the state.
