🎾Tigers Swept by Henderson State

  ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Fort Hays State tennis team fell 7-0 to Henderson State on Saturday afternoon (April 15) in non-conference play. The Reddies swept all nine matches contested on the day. Henderson State improved to 12-6 overall, while FHSU moved to 7-14 overall.

The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams for the Tigers were able to take games against their opponents. Irina Alfonso and Stefany Stemmer (No. 1) took three games in their 6-3 loss, while Maria Paz Diaz and Fiorella Mendez (No. 2) took four in their 6-4 defeat.

In singles play, Alfonso took games in both sets at the No. 1 position but came up short, falling 6-3, 6-2. Mendez was defeated by the same scores at the No. 3 singles slot. Stemmer took two games from her opponent in each set, losing 6-2, 6-2.

Paz Diaz (No. 4) and Grace Unruh (No. 5) were both held scoreless in their singles matches.

Kylie Aufdengarten won the most singles games on the day with seven, losing by scores of 6-4, 6-3.  

The Tigers will play Ouachita Baptist on Sunday (April 16) at 12 p.m.
