HAYS - The TMP-Marian baseball team wrapped up the final day of the Hays Diamond Classic on Saturday and finished 0-4.
After dropping their first game against Hays High Thursday, the Monarchs (4-14) fell 17-1 to Life Prep and 8-4 to Brush Colorado on Friday and then wrapped up the three days Saturday in a 10-0 loss to Manhattan.
Saturday Game 1: Manhattan 10, TMP 0 (5 innings)
The Manhattan Indians scored five runs in the first and scored a run in
four of the five innings on their way to a 10-0 win over the Monarchs Saturday.
The Indians outhit the Monarchs 8-3 with Ian Nehls collecting two of the Monarchs hits.
Nehls suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed nine runs, six earned, on seven hits with four walks and a strikeout.
Friday Game 1: Life Prep 17, TMP 1 (5 innings)
In the first game of the day on Friday the Monarchs were limited
to one run while Life Prep scored in every inning on their way to a 17-1 run-rule
victory.
The Monarchs were limited to three hits in the game and their lone run came in the bottom of the third inning, when Carson Liles drove in a run on an RBI ground out.
Joey Mindrup was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk for TMP.
Monarchs’ starter Garrett Feauto allowed 17 runs, 11 earned on 19 hits in four and a third innings.
Friday Game 2: Brush CO. 8, TMP 4
In the Monarchs final game of the day, they could not
overcome a five-run first inning from the Brush Colorado Beetdiggers as they
fall 8-4.
Brush scored on pair of errors, a balk, a wild pitch and a passed ball for a 5-0 lead.
TMP got a run back on a Carson Liles RBI single in the top of the first making it 5-1 but Brush scored two in the fourth and after the Monarchs scored two in the sixth they added an eighth run in the bottom of the inning.
TMP threatened in to top of the seventh, scoring a run on an error but had a runner called out trying to score and they left another runner on base in the 8-4 loss. Joey Mindrup was 3-for-3 and scored twice. Liles and Kendall Walker each tallied a pair of hits.
Liles went the distance on the mound, allowing eight runs, six earned, on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
TMP will host Garden City on Thursday.
