⚾ Offense carries Larks to 2-0 start

LAKEWOOD — A huge night at the plate carried the Hays Larks to a 19-8 victory over the Colorado LumberJacks Tuesday night and a 2-0 start to the season.

Sean Keenan collected five hits and drove in five runs, highlighted by a bases-clearing double in the eighth inning.

The Larks’ offense produced 16 hits, six walks and 13 stolen bases. They scored three runs in the first and third innings and six more in the fourth and eighth.

Dylan Haselhorst added four RBIs.

Hays starter Trent Baker allowed four runs on four hits in four innings but did not factor into the decision.

Justin Peinado earned the win in two innings of relief. He allowed four runs on two hits and walked six.

The Larks have an off day Wednesday before playing a doubleheader at Boulder on Thursday.
