Jul Stramel, 86, of Higginsville, Mo., died December 30, 2021, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 9, 1935, in Bison, KS to Irenaeus and Mildred (Burghart) Stramel.

Jul served in the US Air Force from September of 1956-June 1960.
He married Gladys Boschert on May 12, 1962, in Raytown, MO. They raised their family in Blue Springs before moving to Higginsville in 1998.

Jul worked at Sealright/Huhtamaki Manufacturing as an electrician in maintenance and as a press operator for 24 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a proud member of the NRA and the Moose Lodge in Lexington. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and he played the saxophone and accordion. After retirement he and some buddies started a band. They called themselves the “Country Dudes," and they recorded a CD.

Jul is preceded in death by brother, Art Stramel; sisters, Sandra Samaneus and Alvera Braun.

He is survived by:

Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022, from 12:30-2:00 pm at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Fr. Tom Hawkins and Pastor Jerry Blasye.

He will be buried at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
