The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported a decline in the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days — from 21 on Friday to 17 on Monday.

The department also reported an additional death attributed to the virus.

The department said 35 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the county since Friday.

There are now 182 active cases of COVID-19 in Ellis County, including eight active hospitalizations and 819 recovered cases.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell from more than 30 percent Friday to 27.8 percent Monday.

Since reporting began, there have been 1,005 cases of coronavirus identified in Ellis County, including four deaths.

Of the more than 8,200 total tests administered, just fewer than 12 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so the figures might not necessarily correspond.
