🏀 Martin, Lang named All-Western Athletic Conference

The Hays High girls had two players named to the All-Western Athletic Conference basketball team released Tuesday.

Freshman Molly Martin and junior Carly Lang were named to the second team.

Martin averaged 11.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game for the Indians this past season. Lang averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and a team leading 1.9 steals per game.

The Indians finished 13-9 advancing to their sub-state title game where they lost to eventual state runner-up Salina Central.

Liberal’s Ashley Carrillo was named the WAC Player of the Year. She averaged 17.3 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.3 steals while helping Liberal to the WAC title.

Liberal’s Brandi Fowler was named the WAC Coach of the Year.
