Hays receives .58 inches in 2 days, remains in exceptional drought

Hays received.26 inches of rain overnight and another .32 inches of rain as of Thursday morning, according to the K-State Ag Research Station.

Hays has received 3.44 inches of rain for the month of July and 12.62 inches of precipitation year to date.

Hays receives an average of 3.33 inches of rain during the month of July but is still behind the 14.60 inch-average year to date by the end of July.

Although the Kansas drought monitor shows conditions improving across the state, the drought map released Thursday still shows pockets of exceptional drought for Ellis County, as well as south-central Kansas.

The National Weather Service forecast for Hays is clear through Tuesday. The forecast is for a high of 81 degrees today and increasing to a high of 101 by Tuesday.
