Hansen Foundation grants $50K for temporary housing in Hays

First Call for Help has received a $50,000 grant award from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.

This award will be used in the First Step Housing, Phase II Remodeling project.

This project, located at 607 E. 13th St, will provide temporary housing and support for individuals residing in Ellis County who are struggling with homelessness.

“Housing struggles are expected to increase as the pandemic continues to affect businesses and jobs. We are excited and grateful to the Hansen Foundation for this grant and the opportunities it represents”, said Linda Mills, executive director.

The funds raised, including the Hansen funds, puts First Call for Help at the halfway mark to the goal of $250,000.

First Call for Help was established in 1996 and is committed to assisting others in Ellis County who are in crisis and need.
