DODGE CITY - The Osborne boys made their 13th appearance at the state basketball tournament, opening with Macksville on Wednesday afternoon.
The game featured ten ties and five lead changes. Osborne led by five in the first quarter but trailed 21-20 at halftime.
Osborne never led in the third but tied the game four times, including the 34 all tie taken to the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs went up 38-34 with 6:35 remaining but didn't hit a field goal for the remainder of the game. Macksville took the lead for good with a basket at the 1:45 mark. Osborne managed just three free throws over the final 6:35. The Mustangs made each of their four free throws after taking the lead for the 45-41 victory.
Highlights
Grady Wolters scored a game high 14 and Doak Guttery added 10 for Osborne. Rogelio Ibarra scored 13 and Ryan Kuckelman recorded a double-double at 10 points and 10 rebounds for Macksville.
The Bulldogs season ends at 21-3. Macksville will play Olpe in the semifinals on Friday with a record of 22-2.
