Dwight 'Bud' Perrey Sr.

Dwight "Bud" Perrey Sr., age 92, of Goodland, Kansas, passed away on November 24, 2021.  Bud was born in Lebanon, Missouri, to parents Elmer F. Perrey and Lillian Mary Perrey.  He was proceeded in death by his wife of 38 years, Patricia L. Perrey (nee Shaw), and his brother, John Perrey.

Bud was the manager of the theatre in Goodland for over twenty years.  For many, he was simply known as “Uncle Bud.” He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged on Nov. 20, 1952.  He had an inquisitive mind with many interests including those of pilot, beekeeper, and ham radio operator.  For many years he served as an AARP volunteer preparing tax returns for individuals. He was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served the church in many capacities.

Bud is survived by his son, Dwight Perrey, Jr., a sister, Marilyn Torrence, nieces and nephews Skip Perrey (wife, Sheila), Jennifer Kutscher, Jill LeBlanc (husband, Charlie), Louis Torrence (wife, Rose), Catherine Nedelka (husband, Steve), Perrey Torrence (wife, Dionne), and extended family David Knudson (wife, Roberta), Lisa Knudson, and Noah, Lucas and Grace Holz.

The family would like to express appreciation for the care and comfort provided to Bud by the staff of Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington, and to  the Reverends Don Martin, Scott Mentzer, and Pat Schiefen of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on December 15, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. MST (2:00 p.m. CST).   Interment to be at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in WaKeeney.  The family would ask that you consider a donation to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Goodland, Kansas, or to a charity of your choice.
