The Hays USD 489 school board will consider a contract with the Hays NEA at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The agreement includes one vertical step and horizontal movement for all licensed staff. There will be $680 added onto the base pay for the 2020-21 school year if the agreement is approved.

The agreement also addresses the new student schedule at Hays Middle School and a revised clause on compensation for mentor teachers.

The board is also set to consider a 2.48 percent raise for classified employees and administrators. This is the same percentage increase that was recommended for certified teaching staff.

The board will also consider the replacement of a gas line at Roosevelt Elementary School and replacement of the gym B bleachers at Hays High School. The estimated cost for the bleacher replacement is $25,606.

The board will also consider the 2020-21 student handbook and student fees.

The administration is proposing dropping the technology fee for HHS students from $50 to $25 per year. This would make total fees for HHS students $196 per student,  $243 with a yearbook and Spirit Club.

Elementary and middle school fees would remain the same.

Tonight's meeting also includes the board's annual reorganization, which means the board will consider election of a president and vice-president.

Other items on the agenda include:

• Board committee appointments

• Kansas Association of School Boards recommended policy revisions

• Classified Handbook revisions
