KANSAS CITY, Mo. â€“ The MIAA announces a three-year extension with Kansas City and Municipal Auditorium to host the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships through 2026.

The historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City has hosted the MIAA basketball championships for 18 consecutive years, prior to the 2021 season which was impacted by COVID-19.

“As we prepare to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the MIAA Basketball Tournament in downtown Kansas City, Missouri next March (2023), it is exciting to announce today that we have entered a three-year extension with Kansas City to continue to offer exciting men’s and women’s NCAA conference basketball championships in March at the historic Municipal Auditorium,” said MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy.

“Kansas City is a great basketball town, with more than 100,000 passionate MIAA alumni living in this greater metropolitan area, and we are thrilled to continue to offer MIAA basketball student-athletes the chance to compete each March in one of the most historic and iconic basketball venues in the country.”

Historic Municipal Auditorium has a rich history in College Basketball and has served as the home of the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships since 2003. Over 80 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games have been played in the Arena, including nine Final Fours, which is more than any other facility.

“Kansas City is proud to host a nonstop month of college basketball every March, offering an atmosphere unmatched by any other city in America. The MIAA Basketball Championships are an essential part of that experience,” said Randall Landes, Visit KC Interim President and CEO. “We look forward to welcoming them back to Municipal Auditorium for many years to come.”

The 2022 MIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Citizen Bank and Trust takes place March 2-6.
