KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State sophomore golfer Jackson Rader has been named to the 2023 All-MIAA team, announced Thursday by the conference office.
Rader was a model of consistency for the Tigers all season, posting a stroke average of 75.21 in intercollegiate competition, the lowest for a Tiger since 2018-19. Seventeen of his 30 rounds on the year were sub-75, and all but two were under 80. He finished the season ranked 15th in the MIAA designated event point standings as well as 15th in the league's GolfStat rankings.
A native of Marysville, Kan., Rader finished inside the top 10 at three events, including a tie for fourth against 84 other golfers at the Newman Invitational at Sand Creek Station, a tie for sixth against 82 other players at the Ichabod Invitational at Topeka Country Club and a tie for 10th against 127 other competitors at the NSIC Preview Invitational at Adams Pointe.
His low tournament score of 3-over 147 came at the NSIC Preview, while his low three-round score of 4-over 217 was recorded at the Ichabod Invitational in the fall. He finished in the top half of the field at all but one collegiate event during the year.
Rader led the Tigers with three rounds at par-or-better, including two 1-under rounds (70 at NSU Men's Golf Classic, 71 at MSSU Fall Invitational) and one round at even par (72 at NSIC Preview Invitational). Eight of the top 18 rounds by a Tiger in relation to par belonged to Rader this season
The top 12 individuals in the league's designated event point standings are automatically selected as All-MIAA honorees. The final three spots are voted on by the league coaches.
Rader is the first Tiger to earn All-MIAA honors since 2018 and is the fourth different player to earn all-conference status since 2010.
