COLBY - Hays High made their ninth championship appearance in the Colby Orange & Black tournament on Saturday. The Indians faced the Olathe North Eagles.
#6 Hays 63 - Olathe North 42
Hays led wire-to-wire in a dominating win over Olathe North 63-42. The game was never closer than 4-2 with 6:00 left in the first quarter. The Eagles had the ball down 12-6 but failed to score. Hays embarked on a 20-0 run that lasted 6:21. Olathe North did not score for 8:25 as Hays built their lead to 32-6. The Indians continued to lead by 26 at halftime 40-14.
Highlights
The Indians were never threatened in the second half as they led by at least twenty the entire third and fourth quarters. Jace Linenberger led all scoring with 21. Jordan Dale added 1o.
Coach Alex Hutchins
Linenberger was named tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament team. Dale and Carson Kieffer were also put on the All-Tournament list. Wesley Oakley made the All-Academic team.
Hays improves to 11-1, they travel to Salina to take on the Central Mustangs on Friday.
