Connie Lee Zachgo LaShell, 76 passed away on July 17, 2024 at SunPorch of Smith County of Smith Center, KS. Connie was born on May 19, 1948, in the country outside of Ash Grove, KS and was the daughter of Kenneth and Ila (Parli) Zachgo.
Connie grew up on a farm in the Ash Grove area. She was the oldest of six siblings. She attended Hunter High School, and her class of 1966 was the last class to graduate from Hunter.
On June 4, 1969, she married the love of her life, Allen LaShell. They were married for 39 years before he proceeded her in death on April 9, 2009. To this union two daughters were born, Tammy and Julie.
Connie spent many years providing childcare to families in Ellsworth, KS. She then moved onto employment at Eschbaugh Advertising in Wilson, KS where she worked the rest of her career till she retired. After retirement Connie volunteered for the Senior Companion program in Lucas, KS.
Connie is survived by two daughters Tammy (Carolyn) LaShell, Sylvan Grove, KS and Julie (Dusty) Troy, Stromsburg, NE. Grandchildren: Niki Kempke, Carrie Kempke, and Calob Troy. Siblings: Jim Zachgo, Sandy (Edgar) Brummer, Virginia (Travis) Naylor, and Toni (Royce) Hillegeist. Many nieces and nephews too many to name. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Ila (Parli) Zachgo and brother Joe Zachgo.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday July 27, 2024, at Vesper Community Center, 1247 N 120th Rd Vesper, KS, with Pastor Melissa Naylor officiating.
There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen.
