George Alan Winter

George Alan Winter, 81, passed away January 5, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born September 24, 1939, at Wichita to Edgar & Edna (Miller) Winter. He married Mary Lee Ryan December 21, 1963, at Hays. 

He grew up near Boyd and graduated from Hoisington High School in 1957. He attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, where he got his masters degree in education and met his wife Mary. They moved to Great Bend in 1964 and he taught industrial arts at Otis Bison High School until 1978. He started Winter Home Construction which he ran for forty years before retiring in 2018. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and liked gospel music. He enjoyed working and going to the farm as well as spending time with his family. He loved to connect with others and offer help and encouragement to those in need.

Survivors include, his wife Mary Lee Winter; a daughter, Lisa Vance and husband Judd of Wichita; a son, Brad Winter; a sister, Arlene Anderson of McPherson; and two grandchildren, Sara Vance and Erin Vance. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021, at Great Bend Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Memorials have been designated to Almost Home or Central Kansas Dream Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
