NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State men's track and field team jumps to 13th in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division II rating index, released Tuesday by the coaches association.
Men's Track & Field currently have broken three school records this season along with 19 provisional marks. The Tigers have four student-athletes that rank in the top 10 nationally, including high jumper Dayton Williams (6-11.5 feet), pole vaulter Jacob Clark (16-8.75 feet) and multi-event runner Nolan Churchman (5326 points in heptathlon). Ethan Lang, Week 4 MIAA Track Athlete of the Week, holds the fifth spot for running the 800 meters in a converted time of 1:49.40. This past weekend, the Distance Medley team consisting of Trevor Medina, Hayden Albright, Ethan Lang and Grant Bailey broke the school record for finishing in 9:43.55. This mark currently ranks sixth nationally, earning a provisional mark.
The Tiger men currently rank sixth in the central region as the team had a successful weekend at both the Ichabod Invitational and Gorilla Classic.
Men's Track & Field conclude their strong indoor season this Friday at the Steve Miller Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. The MIAA Championships are set to begin Friday (Feb. 23) and conclude Sunday (Feb. 25).
