The 3v3 Hays Youth Basketball tournament for this Saturday will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Hays Recreation Center.
Doors will open at 8 a.m.
I want to thank everyone for their support. Many people wanted this tournament to happen, and many kids were excited that it is happening. First and foremost, this is for the kids to have an opportunity to do something fun.
For this year, it is called the "Hays Youth Basketball 3v3 Tournament." For this year, it has zero affiliation with a school. Feel free to pass along the information to anyone who might need it.
All games will be at the Hays Recreation Center.
All proceeds will be for the Hays youth teams and following representatives:
Herd basketball — Conor Nicholl (785-639-7230, [email protected])
Tribe basketball — Jordan Schaeffer (785-623-1786)
Heat/Bulls basketball — Lance Albin (785-259-5316)
Volunteers are part of these three organizations.
All games are expected to be done by 5 p.m. The rules and Hotshot rules do not change from previous years when the tournament had a different name.
Please email or text your roster (if you have not already done so), no later than noon Wednesday. If you have received a confirmation text or email, we have your roster.
We have more than 40 teams signed up, but I know there are some we are missing, specifically with eighth-grade girls and sixth-grade boys. We are looking to fill the following age brackets: third-eighth-grade girls and third-eighth-grade boys.
We can add more teams to all groups (specifically on the girl's side), but the following have multiple teams: fifth-grade girls, fifth-grade boys, eighth-grade boys, and sixth-grade boys. Medals will be awarded to the top team in each division.
Medals will also be given to shooting contest division winners.
We might combine ages, particularly with third and fourth grades.
We look to have a schedule out by Wednesday night or Thursday mid-day. The schedule will be on this email chain. We are looking to have everyone play at least four games. Games are 12 minutes each.
Cost is $15 per player and admission is $3 (children younger than 5 are free) $2 for the shooting contest.
You can pay in a variety of ways: paying the day of, paying by Venmo: @Conor-Nicholl-1 or by stopping by Coldwell Banker, 22nd and Vine, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and paying Jenny Nicholl. Coldwell. If you have already paid online refunds should be administered by TMP.
